Twitter on the iPhone

So this past week or so Apple released the new iOS 5 operating system for the iPhone.  I've heard a lot about it and how much most people like it.  It has a few new features including one option that allows Twitter users to integrate Twitter into apps.  Users can now tweet from main apps such as the maps, YouTube, contacts, and others.  There is even an option where Twitter will go through your contacts and add their Twitter information.  So if you are watching a video on your YouTube app and want to tweet about it, this new operating system makes it much easier.
I think this is a very cool new feature for the iPhone.  It's not that it couldn't be done before, but now people can share interests much quicker.  This is just another way Apple is adapting to what people want and once again  shows that they know how to lead innovation.  I like the fact that Apple is always thinking ahead.  They are always coming up with new ways to improve their products.  They always have new operating systems coming out and are always trying to fix previous problems.  That is probably one major reason they are such a successful company.  Many other companies have a hard time keeping up with such an innovative company.
I also think this new operating system does a lot of good for Twitter.  Twitter now gets more attention and publicity.  Their users now have a much easier way to use their accounts.  I don't see how this could have any negative effects for Twitter as a company.  It may even help contribute to many new users.

  1. In the last couple months I have moved into the IPhone world as well, best decision of my life. Previously I had an Android that was without a doubt, the worst phone I have ever had. Sprint was my cellular carrier and had the customer service to match. Since switching I have been very pleased with my IPhone 4, minus the numerous calls I've dropped. I have been however, debating on downloading the new IPhone 5 software onto my phone. I however, am not very well informed on the new capabilities that were added. I do have a Twitter but am not an avid user. I usually just scroll through the home screen, reading the posts of the friends, athletes, and other celebrities that I follow. Would the new software be worth downloading for someone such as myself? Are there any drawbacks to adding the new software?

  2. This past weekend I was able to play with one of the new IPhone's with the iOS 5 operating system. The things it could do were amazing! An app called Siri can be down loaded. It's is a personal assistant app for the IPhone that will pull up web pages with answers to almost any question you can think of. You can also simply make statements to Siri as well and "she" will respond with viable comments. Here is a video of a young kid asking Siri "where can I hide a dead body?" She responds with "what type of place are you looking for? Dumps, swamps, mines, reservoirs, metal foundries?" (http://guyism.com/humor/video-siri-will-revolutionize-how-you-bury-bodies-with-your-iphone-4s.html). Although, this is an odd question it is still amazing how much thought has been put into the app. I wish I would have waited for the IPhone 5 now!

  3. I believe this is a good move by apple. Just in the past year Twitter has I have started using twitter and I have seen a huge increase of fellow students using twitter. This is something that could rival Facebook. With Facebook being 7 years old I believe people are starting to make a change to new social media and I believe it will be twitter.
