LinkedIn

So LinkedIn is the preferred site for business networking.  I just set up my LinkedIn account ,but don't really know how to use it yet.  Although I don't know how to use it I feel like it will help me in the future .  Gaining connections in the business world seems like a major competitive advantage over others that don't use LinkedIn.  It seems like your online resume and can show off all of your attributes. It is such a different site than Facebook.  It is used for networking, but not in the same way.  Even the founder of LinkedIn feels like Facebook is not direct competition.  LinkedIn is so useful for emloyees and emloyers.  It can save a company so much money by being able to research a possible cantidate.  It can also benefit the employee by allowing multiple companies to view thier profile.  Overall I am excited to see what LinkedIn can do for me in the future and see how much it can help me network with other people.

  1. LinkedIn might be the most popular business social net work today but I am just curious that will it still be in the same position in the future? What if some other firms created a more powerful and easier to use social network for business? Then other company has to re-establish their connections on internet but so far there is no doubt that linkedIn is the leader for the business social network

  2. I know that I have personally never heard of anyone who has gotten a job via LinkedIn, but that's also because most of us are starting out entry-level. One of my friends told me that as one moves on through their working life, LinkedIn becomes more useful because employers and head-hunters typically don't search for people with entry-level positions. This is interesting because I read an article that said Facebook is preferred to LinkedIn by employers, but I tend to agree with your article more. I think LinkedIn is more useful because it is more polished and professional than Facebook, although employers usually want to see the entire brand image that a person has (which they typically don't put on LinkedIn).
